Look again at the front cover. Eclectric Strings, huh? On the table of contents it says: Eclectic Strings. Okay, after looking up the definition I'm wondering if this is a guitarmaking cult I've joined??? |

It happens. Yes, Don this is true but it shouldn't. Volunteer or not, short staffed or not, There's NO reason that an error on the front cover of a magazine should make it though the editing process. That would be like one of us having a huge blemish on the top of one of our instruments. It's the first thing people see and says everything about the product. My wife is a magazine editor and something like that would NEVER pass in her company. To me it says "we don't really care about the product". |

Paul are you an ASIA member? Good, then you can talk. Really, I think it's more funny than pathetic. It's one of those "seldom used words" in the English language. I had to look it up, and I'm still not sure of it's true application. The scrambling of English words is quite comical sometimes. Elshaw even has one at the bottom of his posts, mispelled of course, because horses are led not lead. (Well, I may as well fess up too, John's saying is correct, "You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead.") I'm even amused at my frequent errors posting on this forum. Edited by Dickey is usually my byline. I normallly am pretty god at speling jus' a crapy typistt. |

What, eclectic? I wouldn't call it terribly uncommon. It's a word that's often used to describe someone's taste in music. Use it myself sometimes, since it says it better than 'varied', and more briefly than 'all sorts of different genres'. |

Don, good catch. I did that on purpose to see if anyone would. Now, that said, I am the self-proclaimed world's worst speller. Hands down. But when it's important, I hand it to my wife to proof. But it doesn't take a spousal editor, just having a second set of eyes will catch things that the first set doesn't. Bottom line: it's lazyness. Yes, I'm lazy when I type things here. But I still think that when it's important, you can find a way to make it right. I agree with Mattia, eclectic is not really that uncommon. As he said, music, art, food are all good examples of where it is commonly used. For many, it's a kind way of saying "man, you got a bunch of crap laying around here!" Instead, one might say "Well, this sure is an eclectic style of decoration." |

Don't any of my readers have a sense of humor? Eclectic is the "correct" word, "Eclectric" is the pun. After all, I don't want there NOT to be a discussion of ASIA's failings for any length of time. I still remember with pleasure the ad for United Airlines that appeared in several major publications some years ago with the headline, "Fly Untied." |
